How to judge the quality of pearl cotton through these methods
Sponge is a type of polyurethane foam plastic, belonging to the category of soft polyurethane foam. Due to its porous honeycomb structure, sponge exhibits excellent characteristics such as softness, water absorption, elasticity, and water resistance. It is precisely these features that make it widely used in various industries, including sofas, clothing, mattresses, and soft packaging.
Key raw materials for sponge production include:
1. Isocyanate: The most commonly used isocyanate is toluene diisocyanate (TDI), with two isomers, namely 4-TDI and 6-TDI. In sponge production, 4-TDI accounts for 80%, while 6-TDI accounts for 20%.
2. Polyether Polyols: Sponge often utilizes polyether propylene glycol and polyether propylene triol, with low functionality (2-3), low hydroxyl value, and high molecular weight. The molecular formula is CH3-CHO(C3H6O)m(C2H4O)nH CH2O(C3H6O)m(C2H4O)nH.
3. Catalyst: Catalysts that promote the reaction between polyether polyols and isocyanates to increase chain length include stannous octoate and dibutyltin. Catalysts that facilitate the cross-linking reaction and promote the release of CO2 gas from the reaction between isocyanate and water include triethanolamine, triethylene diamine, and triethylamine.
4. Foam Stabilizer: Commonly used organic silicon foam stabilizers are mainly silicone-carbon Si-C copolymers, with a dosage of approximately 0.5%-5%.
5. Blowing Agent: Freon compounds with low boiling points, such as dichlorodifluoromethane (F-11), are commonly used as blowing agents. Due to environmental concerns, cyclopentane is often used as a substitute for F-11, or dichloromethane, with good results.
6. Water: In sponge production, water is essential. Water reacts with TDI to release CO2 gas while simultaneously playing a role in chain growth.
